Our Ward's candidates debate on October 18th!

The Ward 11 councillor candidates for the municipal election will hold a debate following the ABCRA's Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, October 18, at the Stone Church, 45 Davenport Road.

The meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. The candidates debate will follow the ABCRA's annual meeting that will include the election of the Board of Directors. It is usually quite quick.

There are 14 candidates in Ward 11. Not sure that all will take part in the debate. 

One of the leading candidates is Dianne Saxe, an environmental lawyer who was Ontario's Environmental Commissioner from 2015 until Doug Ford scrapped the Commissioners office in 2019. She is taking leave from the Green Party to run for Toronto Council. 

Other candidates include Norm Di Pasquale, Toronto Catholic District School Board Trustee for Ward 9, Robin Buxton Potts, the current interim councillor for Ward 13 and former TV host Ann Rohmer.

Saxe is likely the best bet to deal with John Tory who as mayor (he will likely win again) will have more power under Doug Ford's new law that gives mayors more power.

The Toronto election day is Monday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Advance voting days are October 7 to14 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The plaza next to Starbucks is reopened. It is not clear what the

reason was for closing it off for a few days.
